One potentially positive outcome from Monday’s Trump-Putin Summit in Helsinki, Finland was a clear signal that both leaders have talked about cooperating in Syria, rather than treating each other as geopolitical adversaries at the expense of Syria’s own welfare.
Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte is trying to find countries willing to take in some 450 migrants rescued from an overcrowded ship in the Mediterranean on Saturday, a source at the premier’s office said.
A ship operated by EU border agency Frontex and a vessel owned by Italy’s tax police picked up the migrants near the Italian island of Linosa and more than 100 nautical miles from Malta, which rejected pressure from Rome on Friday to rescue them.
Ahead of a meeting between the interior ministers of Austria, Italy, and Germany over how to handle the migration matter, Germany’s interior minister, Horst Seehofer has embarked on a journey to Vienna to get the conversation going with the Austrians.
On Sunday, an informal meeting was hosted in Brussels at the request of (for now) German Chancellor Angela Merkel to tackle the issue of migration and to potentially identify a ‘European solution’.
Merkel is between a rock and a hard spot over the migration issue as it threatens to split her governmental coalition, and Merkel’s position as Chancellor.
It’s not enough for concerned Europeans, Americans and Canadians to say they care about ‘the Syrian refugees.’ Instead they might take a look in the mirror and realize that they are in fact paying for the proxy war which has created this refugee crisis in the first place.

According to reports this morning, the captain and crew of the ‘Far Right’ ship C-Star chartered by Pegita-linked group “Defend Europe,” were arrested and detained in Northern Cyprus.
The ship was en route to its “patrol mission” in the Mediterranean after being stopped in the Suez Canal days earlier.

The latest threat came as Turkish representatives said to European leaders, that ‘we will blow your mind’, in respect of the vast quantities of migrants. In spite of the odd nature of Erdogan’s ministers using the slogans of the psychedelic rock era, the threat has worried many in Europe.

Talk of building of “The Wall” may be a controversial subject now in the United States, but in Hungary, they’ve already done it.
The barrier along 523 km of Hungary’s southern border with non-Schengen states Croatia and Serbia, is a heavily patrolled steel razor-wire fence ordered built in 2015 by Prime Minister Viktor Orban. The Hungarians say it has already prevented thousands of illegal crossings.
Now Hungary’s about to up the ante.
