Italy Rescues Migrants and Asks Other Countries to Host Them

Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte is trying to find countries willing to take in some 450 migrants rescued from an overcrowded ship in the Mediterranean on Saturday, a source at the premier’s office said.
A ship operated by EU border agency Frontex and a vessel owned by Italy’s tax police picked up the migrants near the Italian island of Linosa and more than 100 nautical miles from Malta, which rejected pressure from Rome on Friday to rescue them.

EU leaders fail to identify ‘European solution’ to migration crisis at informal meeting

On Sunday, an informal meeting was hosted in Brussels at the request of (for now) German Chancellor Angela Merkel to tackle the issue of migration and to potentially identify a ‘European solution’.
Merkel is between a rock and a hard spot over the migration issue as it threatens to split her governmental coalition, and Merkel’s position as Chancellor.

‘Far Right’ Ship C-Star Enters Mediterranean to Stop Migrants, Crew Arrested

According to reports this morning, the captain and crew of the ‘Far Right’ ship C-Star chartered by Pegita-linked group “Defend Europe,” were arrested and detained in Northern Cyprus.
The ship was en route to its “patrol mission” in the Mediterranean after being stopped in the Suez Canal days earlier.

The barrier along 523 km of Hungary’s southern border with non-Schengen states Croatia and Serbia, is a heavily patrolled steel razor-wire fence ordered built in 2015 by Prime Minister Viktor Orban. The Hungarians say it has already prevented thousands of illegal crossings.
Now Hungary’s about to up the ante.
