President Trump's foreign policy has failed to embrace a friendly and constructive more accommodating partnership with Russia and to demonstrate a mature commitment to better and stronger relations with China as a strategic partner.

Johnson and Bolton are soulmates in heartless belligerence. They hate President Putin and are preparing for ultimate confrontation with Russia, a scheme that is backed enthusiastically by many figures in their respective governments.

Bolton is in place because his belligerent worldview coordinates very well with and validates that of the president, though it remains to be seen if that will translate into action.
