Prophecies and Politics: How US Evangelical Christians Pushed for Jerusalem Move

Religious conservative groups have lobbied for policy relocating US embassy to Jerusalem from biblical standpoint.
(MEE) — God is not a real estate agent, the former bishop of Jerusalem said in response to US evangelical support for recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Palestinian leadership has welcomed a new resolution passed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization Tuesday declaring practices by “Israeli occupying authorities,” in East Jerusalem’s old city “illegal”.

Palestinians Are Seeking Justice In Jerusalem – Not An Abusive Life-Long Mate

Several articles have been published about the “legal limbo” in which Palestinian Jerusalemites exist and proposals as to what Israel ought to do about this 50-year old travesty, among them being righting “the wrong” of denying Palestinian Arabs in East Jerusalem Israeli citizenship. In my view, such articles both define the injustice done to Palestinians deceptively and are meant[Read More...]

Israel tells Palestinians: “Al-Aqsa is No Longer Yours”

Palestinian leaders have denounced new construction projects they say will further tighten Israel’s grip on occupied East Jerusalem and its holy places, including the incendiary site of Al-Aqsa mosque.
The most elaborate plan is for a cable car intended to bring thousands of visitors an hour to the Western Wall and its Jewish prayer plaza immediately below al-Haram al-Sharif, a compound containing Al-Aqsa and the golden-topped Dome of the Rock.

Thursday marks the First Test of Donald Trump’s “Utimate Deal”

A decision by Donald Trump this Thursday could prove fateful for the immediate future of Jerusalem, the wider Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the region.
He must decide whether to renew a presidential waiver, signed by his predecessor, Barack Obama, that expires on June 1. As I was growing up, I was always reassured by the sound of the ‘Muadhin’ making the call for prayer in our refugee camp’s main mosque in Gaza. Whenever I heard the call very early in the morning, announcing in a melodic voice that the time for the ‘Fajr’ (dawn) prayer was upon us, I knew it was safe to go to sleep.

The War on UNESCO

Did Italian Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi, actually read the full text of the UNESCO resolution on Palestine and Israel, before he raved with anger?
“I think this is a mistaken, inconceivable resolution,” he said.
“It is not possible to continue with these resolutions at the UN and UNESCO that aim to attack Israel. It is shocking and I have ordered that we stop taking this position (his country’s abstention) even if it means diverging from the position taken by the rest of Europe,” he added.

How Israel is “turning Palestinians into Zionists”

Israel is to put financial pressure on Palestinian schools in occupied East Jerusalem in an effort to make them switch over to an Israeli-controlled curriculum, according to local activists and officials.
Almost all of East Jerusalem’s schools currently use a syllabus developed by the Palestinian Authority, a Palestinian government-in-waiting created in the mid-1990s by the Oslo accords. Before that, they relied on the Jordanian curriculum.
