BP and Total are planning to drill for oil near a recently discovered coral reef off the coast of Brazil, Energydesk can reveal.
Together the oil majors own five deepwater exploration licences in the Foz do Amazonas (Mouth of the Amazon River) basin and are expected to be granted permits to begin exploratory drilling early this year – once their environmental impact assessments are approved by the Brazilian government.

(REPORT) — Oklahoma has registered about 1,829 earthquakes in the past year, attributable to wastewater injection from deep underground drilling wells — wells that will likely multiply under an incoming Donald Trump administration.

ExxonMobil will return to its Arctic partnership with Russian state-owned oil company Rosneft once the US government lifts sanctions against Moscow, a top executive said earlier this year.

Since 2012, scientists have suspected that the earthquakes plaguing Texas and Oklahoma are results of wastewater injections from fracking and conventional drilling. And while they were relatively certain that the 2012 4.8 earthquake that rocked Eastern Texas was as a result of this phenomenon, they were still searching for definitive proof.

In the farthest regions of the north, the Russians have already drilled, but the Americans are coming. Shell makes preparation to drill.  So it is, the most distant Northern Hemisphere will never be the same.
