Jerry is has been an expert in real estate law expert for 4 decades so I went to him for advice on California State Measure 13, which is on the ballot next week and which everyone has been asking me about. Jonathan Abboud is running for an open blue seat in the California state Assembly-- the 37th district which runs along the coast from Point Conception through Goleta, Santa Barbara, Carpinteria and Ventura into Oxnard. It includes just over half of Santa Barbara County and almost 30% of Ventura County. Democrats usually win there with over 60%. Hillary beat Trump in the district 64.3% to 29.2%.
ICE agents arrested two repeat-offender Mexican nationals at Sonoma County Court despite a California law prohibiting federal agens from making arrests at courthouses without a warrant from a judge. ICE claims it doesn’t matter what laws California put in place, because they don’t nullify federal immigration laws.
In the last 2 days San Diego City Council president Georgette Gómez has been endorsed by some of the most trusted names int progressive politics-- AOC, Ro Khanna, Jamie Raskin, Pramila Jayapal... Bernie had endorsed her the week before. Today Blue America adds our name to the growing list of endorsers.
