Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered Israeli authorities to ban Al Jazeera’s Jerusalem bureau chief Walid al-Omari from a state-sponsored freedom of speech seminar planned for Thursday.
“The prime minister instructed that legal steps be taken to deny press passes of all Al Jazeera journalists working in Israel and to close their offices in Israel,” the Government Press Office said on Facebook.
Netanyahu announced on 26 July his willingness to silence the network, which he accused of inciting violence, especially during clashes at the Al-Aqsa mosque in July.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said late Wednesday he wants to expel Qatari broadcaster Al Jazeera from Israel amid tensions over a sensitive Jerusalem holy site.
“The Al Jazeera channel continues to incite violence around the Temple Mount,” Netanyahu wrote in a Facebook post, referring to the Haram al-Sharif compound in Jerusalem, known to Jews as the Temple Mount.

The Crown Prince of the UAE Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan asked the Americans to bomb the headquarters of Al Jazeera during the US war in Afghanistan, Arabi21.com revealed yesterday.
According to the document bin Zayed spoke about a meeting between his father and the former Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani.

“The demand … is, in our view, an unacceptable attack on the right to freedom of expression and opinion.”

(ANTIMEDIA) — Late last week, Saudi Arabia and other members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) that are involved in attempting to isolate Qatar sent the tiny Gulf nation a list of 13 demands. They are insisting that Qatar meet these demands within ten days or face unspecified further action.
