On Friday, reports suggested that WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, would be expelled from London’s Ecuadorian embassy “within hours to days.” This led to an international media storm, as the world waited as the 7-year stand-off threatened to reach a climactic end.
However, those fears have since been downplayed by Ecuadorian officials who released the following statement just hours ago:
In a statement, Ecuador's Foreign Minister denies that it will expel Assange "imminently". However does he does not deny a plot to expel and twice references @WikiLeaks reporting on the #INApapers offshore corruption scandal engulfing the president.

21WIRE’s editor Patrick Henningsen spoke live to RT International on Friday April 5th at 2:00pm UK time, about the possible impending expulsion of Julian Assange from the Ecuadorian Embassy, and about the ‘backroom deals’ which might be taking place between the primary antagonists in this saga:
“If you look at the bigger context of this plus pressure put by Mike Pence on the Ecuadorian government which was last summer plus a 4.2 billion dollar IMF loan package that was awarded to Ecuador just last month’s in February – you put all these things together and it does look like there’s quite a few deals going on in the background, three-way deals, perhaps a backroom deal between the US the UK and the Ecuadorian government to basically deliver Julian Assange to the United States.”
Regarding what may, or may not, be going on behind the scenes, or whether Ecuadorian president Lenín Moreno was really motivated by retribution against Assange over Ecuador’s recent INA scandal for allegedly ‘hacking’ of his office and family’s personal accounts, Henningsen believes Moreno is using the same ‘deflect and distract’ tactics employed by Washington throughout the Russiagate debacle:
“Look at the claims by Moreno. He’s accusing WikiLeaks of hacking. So this hacking accusation – does this sound familiar? We’ve heard this before … it seems like the Ecuadorian government is getting PR cues from Washington … This is what Washington has done to deflect from Hillary Clinton (scandals) for the last two years, by creating Russiagate and sort of putting Trump and the Mueller investigation into motion.”
