UN Agencies Back Asylum Rights of Central American Migrants in Exodus to US

Migrants from El Salvador embarking in the regional caravan, destined for the United States. UN agencies are providing food as well as asylum information for the hordes of people heading to America right now. The UN agencies assert the migrants’ right to be heard.
Working closely with Mexico, United Nations agencies are providing food and other necessities to thousands of migrants from Central America who are walking or riding in any vehicle they can find toward the United States. There, they are seeking asylum but face threats from the Trump administration.

President Trump has apparently offered Heather Nauert the United States ambassadorship to the United Nations, according to numerous media reports. She would succeed Nikki Haley, who announced her resignation in early October, saying she wanted to work in the private sector. Trump said this week that he would announce Nauert’s nomination soon.
