Skip James- “Hard Time Killin’ Floor Blues”
It’s Blues time on the Soothing the Beast BFP/Jamiol Music Pick. Bringing us the Blues is American Delta blues singer, guitarist, pianist and songwriter Skip James. The song is Hard Time Killin’ Floor Blues. James’ songs have influenced several generations of musicians and he is hailed as “one of the seminal figures of the blues.” This is Blues at it’s best by a true legend… enjoy…DJPJ.

Carlos Santana with Rob Thomas – Smooth
Last week on the Soothing the Beast BFP/Jamiol Music Pick we went with a twofer featuring Pearl Jam and Neil Young. This week we’re doing it again with two artists. The song is Smooth with Santana and Rob Thomas live on stage. They won three Grammys for their collaboration on the song. This one definitely requires decibels … enjoy …DJPJ.

Pearl Jam with Neil Young- “Rockin’ in the Free World”
The Soothing the Beast BFP/Jamiol Music Pick this week is Pearl Jam performing Neil Young’s Rockin’ in the Free World and Pearl Jam seriously rocks it…and then Neil Young joins them on stage and things really take off. Some fantastic guitar with old school and new school getting it together and hammering it out big time. One of the comments on the vid page said to “play at full volume and dance like no one’s looking!”…good advice…enjoy…DJPJ

Aram Bedrosian- “Weightless”
The Soothing the Beast BFP/Jamiol Music Pick this week is purely instrumental. The instrument is the base guitar, the song is Weightless and the artist is Aram Bedrosian. Aram has been called one of the finest solo electric bassists to have emerged in recent years. He is best known for his unaccompanied solo compositions and his self-titled debut album has earned him international acclaim. This piece is the just the tip of the iceberg of his superb skills on the bass guitar…enjoy…DJPJ.

Winterlight- “Natvardsgasterna”
UK’s Tim Ingham and Jamie Jamieson are Winterlight and this week’s Soothing the Beast/ Jamiol Music Pick featured artists. The song is Natvardsgasterna and is from the ambiient, post-rockelectronic side of the tracks. This piece is from their Hope Dies Last debut album. Earphones really add to the listening experience with this one. However, earphones or speakers…either way enjoy…DJPJ.

Sade- “Why Can’t We Live Together”
We return to one of my favorite artists this week on the Soothing the Beast BFP/Jamiol Music pick. That would be the incomparable Sade Adu. The song is Why Can’t We Live Together. So it’s the end of the week and who better to “sooth the beast” than Sade…enjoy…DJPJ

Leonard Cohen- “Everybody knows”
For This week’s Soothing the Beast BFP/Jamiol Music Pick is both a dedication and congratulations. The song is Everybody Knows by Leonard Cohen and it’s dedicated to none other than Sibel for the release of her first (and the buzz is excellent) novel The Lone Gladio. My wife Linda just finished reading it and loved it. I’m in the process of reading it now and am seriously drawn in. So Sibel, big time congrats on your first
