Yusuf Islam, for those of you who don’t recognize the name, is the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens. His song Peace Train is this week’s Soothing the Beast BFP/Jamiol Music Pick. What’s cool about this vid is that he sings and plays the song in two different ways…first his initial classic version and then a blues version…enjoy…DJPJ.
Beth Hart & Joe Bonamassa- “Rhymes”
This week on the Soothing the Beast BFP/Jamiol Music Pick we revisit one of my favorites singers, Beth Hart. The song is the Etta James hit Rhymes. Here she’s teamed up with blues rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa in one of their many collaborations. They really work well together and do Etta’s song some serious justice….enjoy DJPJ
Pink- “Are We All We Are”
We try to cover a broad range of music on the Soothing the Beast BFP/Jamiol Music Pick. One place we don’t go often is Pop Rock. While I don’t listen to it a lot, I do have a few favorites. One of those is American singer-songwriter Alecia Beth Moore Hart aka Pink. She initially won me over with her song Dear Mr. President…a song with her and the Indigo Girls. It was an open letter to George W. Bush (We featured it here on STB a while back.) The song criticized and took to task Bush and his administration’s policies.
Chuck Berry- “Roll over Beethoven”
