(REPORT) — Activists scaled the base of the Statue of Liberty on Tuesday to unfurl a massive banner reading “Refugees Welcome” across the observation deck.
The 20-foot red-and-white banner was up from roughly 12:45pm to just before 4:00pm, when the National Park Service tore it down.

The movement to make college campuses into sanctuaries for undocumented students is growing, with walkouts and sit-ins taking place around the country on Thursday.
My artist name in English is “Angry Foreigner”. In Swedish it’s “En Arg Blatte Talar” which means An Angry Blatte Speaking. Blatte and foreigner don’t carry the same meaning, and when my channel became international I decided to go with something simple because a lot of people in Sweden didn’t understand the sarcasm/satire of my Swedish artist name. Allow me to explain.
“Blatte” for immigrant is what “nigga” is for black people. Chris Rock explained this perfectly.
This is a comment that a Swede left on my video about the horror of being gay in Sweden’s muslims ghettos. I thought it was worth posting because it’s well-written and nuanced, with insight that I rarely see in the debate about immigration and regressive cultural values.
