Georgia's 5th congressional district-- most of Atlanta from the airport to Buckhead as well as Decatur plus Forest Park, Lake City and Morrow in Clayton County-- hasn't been in play since 1986, the legendary John Lewis' first term. In fact, Republicans have never run a serious campaign in the D+34 district and Lewis usually ran unopposed.

COVID-Kemp with another idiotOn Friday, Georgia reported 4,109 new cases of COVID-19, the 4th most of any state, after much more heavily populated California, Florida and Texas. As of this afternoon, there have been 216,956 confirmed cases in the state or 20,400 cases per million residents-- worse than California or Texas and worse than any European country.
Georgia was one of the early, hard-hit states in the pandemic. But unlike other early states, Georgia is led by a right-wing ideologue, Brian Kemp, who learned nothing at all about public health and seems to care no a whit about the residents of his state.
