MBS: ‘War between Saudi and Iran could happen in just 10 or 15 years’

As promotional tours go, this serial junket was one of the worst ever displays of sycophancy by the mainstream media.
This week, Saudi Arabia’s King in waiting, 32 year old leader Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman (MBS), has been touring the United States as part of an all-out PR offensive to convince America that the feudal theocracy has turned the corner – away from its routine beheadings and systematic oppression of women and religious minorities, and into the international community of progressive nations. MBS is courting a wide range of US elites including Silicon Valley executives and media moguls.
During one interview conducted by the Wall Street Journal, MBS warned if the ‘international community’ fails to pressure Iran with more punitive sanctions then Saudi may have to go to war with Iran in the next 10-15 years.
“Under Prince Mohammed, Saudi Arabia has severed diplomatic ties with Iran and pressured countries in the Middle East and Africa to curtail their relationships with Tehran, accusing it of meddling in Arab affairs.”
“We have to succeed so as to avoid military conflict,” said Prince Mohammed, who is Saudi Arabia’s day-to-day ruler. “If we don’t succeed in what we are trying to do, we will likely have war with Iran in 10-15 years.”
MBS also warned that his Kingdom would escalate a nuclear arms race should Iran ever develop ‘weapon of mass destruction’, before proceeding to invoke Godwin’s Law by declaring Iran’s supreme leader the “New Hitler.”
Incredibly, the Wall Street Journal goes to generally deny any of Saudi Arabian international crimes, before propagandizing about Iran’s alleged ‘role’ in the US-backed Saudi destruction of Yemen:
“Iran has emerged as a more potent force in the Middle East following the nuclear deal and the dismantling of Islamic State, building its influence in Syria and Iraq, and allegedly supplying Yemeni rebels with weaponry used against Saudi Arabia in a three-year war.”
“Iran denies giving weapons to Yemeni rebels and says Saudi Arabia is the one playing a destabilizing role in the region.”
The Iranian Foreign Ministry responded to comments by MBS calling him “delusional” and “naïve,” after the Crown Prince made bizarre allegations that Iran was hosting Al-Qaeda operatives.
During this fluff piece, signed off by one of the Wall Street Journal’s ‘safe pair of hands’, Margherita Stancati, MBS starts to lecture the west about the root of terrorism:
“The Muslim Brotherhood is an incubator for terrorists,” Prince Mohammed said. “We have to get rid of extremism. Without extremism no one can become a terrorist.”
Of course, Stancati can’t seem to bring herself to challenge the Crown Prince’s incredibly hypocritical statement, especially considering Saudi Arabia’s role in helping to arm and finance terrorist brigades who are responsible for destroying Syria and also its support of ISIS in Iraq and Syria.
Most of the US media interviews were more or less the same: softball pitches – no difficult questions directed towards MBS.
It’s the best media money can buy.
