21st Century Wire says…
Hundreds of thousands of people living in Hawaii were met in the early morning hours Saturday with an emergency alert that read: “BALLISTIC MISSILE THREAT INBOUND TO HAWAII. SEEK IMMEDIATE SHELTER. THIS IS NOT A DRILL.”
The initial text warning to mobile phones was issued by the Hawaii Civil Defense and later retracted and ruled as a ‘false alarm’ by Hawaii state officials, the White House and U.S. military agencies.
The emergency alert wasn’t just some egregious error – it was in fact a drill – with White House officials calling it “purely a state exercise” that went awry. The head of Hawaii’s Emergency Management Agency (EMA) said the wrong button was pushed, Fox News reports:
“Vern Miyagi, who oversees the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency (EMA), said at a news conference late Saturday that the civil defense employee who pushed the wrong button regrets what took place.”
“This guy feels bad, right. He’s not doing this on purpose – it was a mistake on his part and he feels terrible about it,” Mr. Miyagi added during a press conference.
Given the hyperaware media coverage of this recent event, along with the ongoing panic and uncertainty about a ‘North Korea’ threat, the confirmed ‘false alarm’ missile drill on Saturday appears to have done its job – and in a wildly successful manner of continuing to put the public on a constant state of alert. Just look at this media personality, CNN’s Jake Tapper, appealing to our sense of fear whilst shilling for more war daily on his newscast:
So sorry for all the people in Hawaii who went through that — we know someone who’s there with her family. Crying in closet texting goodbyes to loved ones, husband shielding their baby. Sounds traumatic. Hang in there, folks.

But this latest event also reinforces a more political development, that’s been brewing for months now, according to 21WIRE’s Patrick Henningsen:
“There’s something very strange and disturbing about the hype around the White House and US media’s latest obsession with North Korea. It’s not just the usual war-mongering and hot air though. We’ve seen all that before. This goes beyond sabre-rattling. There’s something uncomfortably bipartisan about this new appetite for war.”
We’ll provide more updates on this story as things break. Watch this space…
