(ANTIMEDIA) Moscow — Proving that just about anything can be a canvas for the creative, a man in Russia is etching beautiful images out of the dirt and mud on vehicles in the streets of Moscow.
Nikita Golubev, 36, is a self-educated artist who tags his pieces with “ProBoyNick.” In the few weeks since he’s started working in the new medium, he’s produced work depicting animals, flowers, and even surfers.
The artist calls the medium dirt painting, and his tools for the process are his own fingers and paintbrushes. The piece that got him noticed was a profile shot of an alligator, etched into the dirty side panel of a van. Golubev’s photo of the piece went viral, and since then his number of Instagram followers has climbed past 25,000.

Reaction to the artist’s work has been so positive, in fact, that Golubev was recently invited onto Russia’s most popular evening talk show. During his interview, Golubev said each piece takes, on average, around 30 minutes to complete. He said he has even done works while people were sleeping inside the vehicles.

Speaking about his creative side on Facebook, Golubev says even he doesn’t know what comes once this streak ends.
“Most of all I like experimenting in different media,” he wrote. “Book illustrations, wall prints, street art objects, character design and more. Now I am inventing #dirtpainting drawing with paintbrushes and my fingers on dirty trucks. Never know what’s coming up next, so stay tuned.”
