NATO-Georgia Committee Session Held In Brussels

NATO-Georgia Committee Session
At the level of deputy ambassadors of member states of the Alliance NATO-Georgia Committee Session was held in Brussels. Davit Dondua First Deputy State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Georgia presented 2014 Annual National Program (ANP) in the NATO HQ. Deputy Minister of Defence also participated in the discussion of the document. Mikheil Darchiashvili briefed partner states` representatives on the current and planned defence reforms.
28 members of NATO member states positively assessed the reform plan developed by Georgia within the ANP and outlined that the document is comprehensive and realistic. An attention was also attributed to the successful accomplishment of the reforms. The members of the allied states emphasized a solid progress achieved by Georgia in the reform implementation process.
The NATO member countries thanked Georgia for its immense contribution provided to the NATO-led operations as well as its readiness to continue participation in the struggle for global security.
The representatives of NATO member nations reiterated their firm support for sovereignty, territorial integrity and non-recognition policy with regard to the occupied territories of Georgia.
The attendees of the session discussed regional security environment. A special attention was dedicated to the recent developments in Ukraine and its impact on the overall situation in the region.
Georgia has been implementing ANP since 2009 which is considered as a main instrument for NATO integration. The document reflects those reforms that will lead to further development of Georgia`s interoperability with NATO.
State Commission on Georgia`s Integration into NATO approved 2014 ANP which, signed by the Prime Minister, was sent to NATO.
Within the frames of the visit Davit Dondua held the meeting with NATO Secretary General`s Special Representative for South Caucasus and Central Asia James Appathurai.
