060: Escape From Imaginationland (2 of 3) - The Emotional Incentives of Fantasy

Topic:
This (second part of three) is the beginning of a two-part discussion I recently had with Wes Bertrand. On September 18th, I tried to weave a series of loosely related thoughts together into one topic, while driving. I wasn't thrilled with the result. I eventually contacted Wes to help me try to make sense of it all.

This is an examination of how fantasy is used to manage personal and/or political anxiety, the relationship between the personal and the political, and how outrage and attack are employed to deal with the disruption of fantasy.

Discussed Today:
-Me and my uncle; comparing our anxiety
-Focusing on the meta-talk of political and philosophical discussions
-Developing an emotional vocabulary
-Self-esteem and the works of Nathaniel Branden
