Palestinian official Saeb Erekat tells UN Ambassador Nikki Haley to “shut up”

Senior Palestinian official Saeb Erekat on Saturday accused the Trump White Hous of trying depose the Palestinian leadership in a “coup”.
Erekat then went on to blast the “impudent” US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, saying she should “shut up” with her criticism of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas…

“Nikki Haley needs to shut up and realize that the Palestinian leadership is not the problem.”

After scolding Haley, Erekat delivered a more moderate and diplomatic message to the Trump Administration…

(Agence France Presse) – RAMALLAH, West Bank: Palestinian officials said Sunday they had arrested a member of their peace negotiating department for spying for Israel, a development likely to deepen distrust between the sides at a time of deadlocked diplomacy and simmering street violence.

Although intended to inspire his Fatah Party followers, a televised speech by Mahmoud Abbas on the 51st Anniversary of the group’s launch highlighted, instead, the unprecedented crisis that continues to wreak havoc on the Palestinian people. Not only did Abbas sound defensive and lacking in any serious or new initiatives, but his ultimate intention appeared as if it was about his political survival, and nothing else.

There is speculation that PA Chief Negotiator Saeb Erekat is  being prepped to take over as president from Abbas, although he told Mehdi Hasan he wished to go back to being a university professor. Well go, dammit, go!

Palestinian Collaboration Overshadows Latest Talks

Shortly after the signing of the Oslo accords between Israel and the PLO in 1993, the Jerusalem Post ran a cartoon that depicted a critical aspect of those accords which has rarely been discussed much less acknowledged. In the cartoon, a smiling Yasser Arafat was sitting upright on a stretcher giving a “V” sign. The stretcher bearers were Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Shimon Peres.
