Is Shinseki Fired Yet? How About Congress?

I can't see any way for Obama to keep Eric Shinseki on as Secretary of Veterans Affairs. No matter how good a job he did fighting in Vietnam or commanding in Bosnia or as Army Chief of Staff, he screwed up royally as Secretary of Veterans Affairs. At least 40 veterans have died while waiting to see V.A. doctors. That's not what Americans expect from the Veterans Administration and Shinseki should resign at once or be fired by Obama.

Do All Democrats Back Net Neutrality? No, Many Are On The Corporate Gravy Train With The Republicans

This week, Rick Weiland, the populist Democrat running for open Senate seat in South Dakota, sent his supporters a statement called "The Lost Highway," and, of course, he was talking about the Internet. "Everybody," he began, "seems to think the so called net neutrality issue is incredibly complex. It isn't." Weiland isn't much loved by the Big Money interests or the Establishment shills from either party.

How About A Useful Select Committee In The Senate To Balance Out The Circus Routine In The House?

All the Blue America bloggers have been agitating for Pelosi to refuse to legitimize the Benghazi clown show and to instead appoint just one Democrat-- Alan Grayson, who is bound to make the Republicans wish they were not the party of sedition and obstruction. NRSC Clearly Understands They Can Lose South Dakota, But Guy Cecil Is Still Filled With Poutrage

DSCC executive director Guy Cecil isn't thinking clearly... or doesn't give a shit if the Democrats keep control of the Senate or not. The battle over the Senate could well come down to one state: South Dakota... and Cecil, who rides roughshod over pathetic DSCC chairman Michael Bennet, refuses to play.

Fake "Moderate" Republicans Like Susan Collins Defeated The Minimum Wage Increase-- What Next?

The vote yesterday to shut down the Republican Party filibuster of the minimum wage bill ended badly, 54 in favor, 41 opposed (not counting Harry Reid who had to switch his vote to oppose so he can bring the bill up again later). It needed 60 votes to overcome the filibuster. Five votes shy.

Rick Weiland-- Channelling Johnny Cash, George McGovern And Elizabeth Warren

Tuesday, Blue America-endorsed Rick Weiland, the prairie populist and progressive candidate for the open U.S. Senate seat in South Dakota, visited tiny Hudson (pop. 296). That made him the first candidate to have ever visited every one of the state's 311 incorporated towns and cities. And this morning he released a song about doing it.Joined by his daughters, Taylor and Alex, and brother Ted, Rick re-worked the Johnny Cash classic "I’ve Been Everywhere" (written by Geoff Mack in 1959).

Frank Sinatra Contest-- The Best Is Yet To Come… For South Dakota

Today Blue America is launching an effort on behalf of prairie populist Rick Weiland who's running for the open blue Senate seat in South Dakota. With two Republicans running against the GOP Establishment pick in the general election, this should be a great opportunity to elect a dedicated tribune of working families in what the DC pundits see as a tough race. One Republican is an ex-U.S.
