Capital outflow this year from Russia has been a good thing. Here’s why

No subject in my experience causes more misunderstanding in discussions of economies – and of the Russian economy in particular – than capital outflow.
There seems to be a well-nigh universal belief that capital inflow is a “good” and that capital outflow is “bad”, and when the subject is Russia this is taken to an extreme.

ST. PETERSBURG, (Sputnik) – Russia’s Power Machines engineering company plans to consistently increase the exports share in its revenue, company’s CEO Yuri Petrenya told Sputnik.

“In 2016 the exports share in the Power Machines’ revenue amounted to more than 53 percent and this figure will further increase,”

PITSUNDA (Abkhazia), (Sputnik) – Russia and Abkhazia will develop closer security cooperation in the Caucasian region, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday.
Earlier in the day, Putin arrived in Abkhazia to commemorate the ninth anniversary of the conflict in South Ossetia and Abkhazia, which erupted in August 2008, and to hold negotiations with Abkhazian President Raul Khajimba.
