Carlos Zapata, a mayor in Shasta County, told the county leaders that families are starving and the restrictions on business are causing good law-abiding citizens to become revolutionaries who will go to war against them if they continue. He said six veterans in the area committed suicide after losing their jobs.

Governor Pritzker amended rules so business owners can be charged with a Class-A misdemeanor for violating his closure order and face a fine of $2,500 and one year in prison. The Joint Committee on Administrative Rules is facing pressure to strike down Pritzker’s new rule and will meet Wednesday morning.
