The director of the Seasonal Forecasting at Verisk's Atmospheric and Environmental Research wrote that North American snow cover went from record low to the highest level in a decade since 2014.

The recent polar vortex left temperatures in the sub-zeros and even lower when taking wind chill into account. In some parts of the upper Midwest and northern Plains, it was expected to be colder than the surface of Mars. With the polar vortex claiming at least 8 lives, it’s obvious that we need to be prepared for such harsh weathers in the future. [1] [4]

A lone polar bear on a small sheet of ice has become an iconic image of global warming. Unfortunately, the image of the distraught polar bear sends a beguiling image that renders the dangers of global warming a disservice.
A better image, or icon, would be a massive 100-foot thick naturally coagulated renegade iceberg broadsiding an oil rig.  More on this truly catastrophic event later.
