Will the Ghost of Duncan Lemp Haunt Gun-Grabbing Politicians?

Will the Ghost of Duncan Lemp Haunt Gun-Grabbing Politicians? by Jim Bovard | Mar 11, 2024 If you post a photo of a rifle on Instagram, tag it to your hometown, and add a caption like “green tip armor piercing gets the girls wet,” Maryland police can cite that to get a no-knock search warrant […]

US Christians move to protect Christians in the Middle East

ISIS represents the single most prominent national or pseudo national entity that makes the persecution of Christians a central part of its activity. The would-be Islamic Caliphate is widely understood to be on its last legs, having been destroyed or driven out of most of the Syrian territory and Iraq, which it had gained in surprisingly swift conquests during the administration of US President Barack Obama. However, ISIS is not the only persecutor of followers of Jesus Christ.

Russian-American Congress sends open letter to President Trump

As an American living in the Russian Federation, I have the pleasure of having direct interaction with many Russian people from all walks of life. Many are Orthodox Christian believers who love the Church and love their own president, Vladimir Putin, and consider him as a Defender of Orthodox Christianity and Christianity everywhere in the world.
Many others are more jaded in their opinions and share skepticism of both their government and the Church, and still others hate Mr. Putin and don’t understand what the big deal about any religion is about at all.

The Koliivshchyna Rebellion of 1764

Dr Matthew Raphael Johnson presents another edition of the Orthodox Nationalist, this time dealing with the Koliivshchyna rebellion, sometimes called the Haidamak revolt, which began in 1768. It’s spiritual foundation was the Abbot of the Motronynskyi (or Motroninsky) Monastery near Chyhyryn in western Ukraine, Abbot Melchizedek (Jaworski). In this powerful address, Dr. Johnson calls on the Orthodox world to canonize this man as a saint.

Traditionalism on Trial

A trial has been set by a faction of the Autonomous Orthodox Metropolia of the Americas. The defendant is Matthew Raphael Johnson, suddenly deemed too far right for this tiny synod’s image. The promoter of this purge is Bishop Joseph (Royer) of Canada, a new bishop received into the church just two years ago. Up until now, Johnson’s “Orthodox Nationalist” podcast and writings were followed by synod members with full support. Something changed.
Bishop Joseph is on the far left. This seems to be a lot of bishops for 100 people.

Attacking Wikileaks’ Assange for Doing What Journalists are Supposed to Do

While I periodically have written commentaries dissecting and pillorying news articles in the New York Times to expose their bias, hypocrisy half-truths and lies, I generally ignore their editorials since these are overtly opinions of the management, and one expects them to display the elitist and neo-liberal perspective of the paper’s publisher and senior editors.
