Lawsuit Alleges LaCroix Sparkling Water Contains Cockroach Insecticide

Sparkling water containing “all natural” flavors is all the rage these days, but one manufacturer is being sued over allegations that its natural ingredients are anything but natural.
Filed against the parent company of LaCroix sparkling water, the lawsuit alleges that the beverages contain artificial ingredients, including one found in cockroach insecticide.
The suit was filed on behalf of customer Lenora Rice and claims that testing revealed the artificial ingredients.
The lawsuit states:

Have Monsanto and the Biotech Industry Turned Natural Bt Pesticides into GMO “Super toxins”?

Is the supposed safety advantage of GMO crops over conventional chemical pesticides a mirage? According to biotech lore, the Bt pesticides introduced into many GMO food crops are natural proteins whose toxic activity extends only to narrow groups of insect species. Therefore, says the industry, these pesticides can all be safely eaten, e.g. by humans.

Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Found to Contain Traces of Glyphosate

The Organic Consumers Association (OCA) announced July 25, 2017 that it had discovered traces of the RoundUp chemical glyphosate in 10 of 11 samples of Ben & Jerry’s ice creams. The levels were reportedly far below the limit set by the EPA. [1]
The discovery is a bit of an embarrassment to the ice-cream maker because it has billed itself as a non-GMO company since 2014. Thankfully, the levels found were quite low. [2]

FDA Warns 14 Companies over Questionable Health Product Claims

The FDA is warning consumers to avoid 65 products sold online which, according to the agency, come with bogus claims that they can treat, cure, diagnose, or prevent cancer, along with other medical conditions. However, the companies which received the warning were not ordered to stop selling their products. [1]
Referring to the pills, creams, and teas as “a cruel deception,” the FDA says the products are a waste of time and money, and have the potential to harm buyers.

New Organic Gatorade is Still Loaded with Sugar – Organic Sugar

Gatorade has a new organic line of its energy drinks, and if you have no idea what it means, let me explain: the array of sugar-laden sports drinks are still loaded with sugar, but that sugar is organic now. It’s not made with organic fruit or anything like that, sorry. [1]
Top Pepsi Co. executives have been talking about introducing an organic line of Gatorade for almost a year, and are now ready to roll out what is called “G Organic.”

McDonald’s Makes Positive Food Changes Due to Demand for Healthy Food

McDonald’s has been in the news a lot this month, thanks to big changes the fast-food company is making to several of its menu offerings.
The company began making these changes more than a year ago, when it replaced margarine with real butter in its Egg McMuffins, and added kale and spinach to the iceberg lettuce in its salads. (Those kale salads wound up being higher in calories than McDonald’s famous Big Macs, though.) [1]
