The issue of mental health has recently gained more prominence in Australia, with radio advertisements proclaiming that a mental illness, such as depression, is “part” of who someone is – kind of like eye color is part of someone. In reality, while eye color is innocuous, the vast majority of people suffering from mental illness would jump at the chance to be freed from the nightmare which is not only their illness, but the side effects of their medication.

For years we’ve been told that depression is caused by low serotonin levels in the brain. Now, a leading professor of psychiatry is warning that belief is little more than a dangerous miscommunication, saying the marketing of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) drugs is “based on a myth.”

Perhaps you’ve heard of America’s most prescribed drug? It is in a class called statins and goes by the name of Crestor (rosuvastatin). It is marketed with the intent to ‘treat’ high cholesterol, and heart disease, but its effectiveness is deeply in question. It certainly doesn’t warrant the $5.8 billion in sales just in America annually, nor the $8.2 billion in revenues worldwide.
So how did this pharmaceutical drug made by AstraZeneca get so popular?

How far does the fraud and contamination of our country’s products go? The list is seemingly endless. Recently adding on to the list, mega-company Johnson and Johnson was recently found out to be knowingly selling adulterated bottles of Tylenol that contain metal particles.
The makers of this children’s Tylenol seemed to think it was OK to pollute our nation’s children  – even if it meant a federal criminal charge.
