Yesterday, I purposely left a major-- maybe the major-- Bloomberg drawback out of the early morning post on Bloomberg's drawbacks. That's because it deserves a post of its own.
Good video, right? I had to get it up as soon as I could! Cute. But... Remember when you didn't vote for Mitt Romney in 2012? Would you vote for him now if it was between him and Trump? He voted good-- one time... and a few minutes later voted to find Trump not guilty on another charge. Still, it was kind a a half a profile in courage that day. And what about if he tagged a "D" next to his name the way Bloomberg has? I know there are plenty of people who would vote for him-- even gladly so-- and more so if he went the Bloomberg route.
A few days ago, defeated conservaDem, Claire McCaskill, was on Chris Hayes' show trying to wish upon a star that she could take back her vote confirming Alex Acosta after the Senate examined his qualifications. There isn't much new information that's come out since McCaskill and 5 other Democrats decided he should be the country's Secretary of Labor.
The 2 counties that supply the majority of voters for Kansas' second congressional district are Shawnee (70,262 votes in 2018) and Douglas (49,416 in 2018). Both went blue, Douglas overwhelmingly. But KS-02 is still represented by a Republican. With Republican Lynn Jenkins retiring, it was an open seat.
There's another primary going on-- for who will dominate the conservative lane in the Democratic primary. In the end, there aren't going to be 24 candidates-- probably just 3: a progressive (Bernie, maybe Elizabeth Warren), an identity politics candidate (likely Kamala Harris) and a conservative/establishment/status quo candidate (likely Biden). But entitled multimillionaires John Delaney and John Frackenlooper aren't giving up.
I haven't seen him in a while, but I used to run into George Takei in one of my favorite neighborhood Italian restaurants all the time. It's an unspoken word in L.A. that you don't bother the celebrities, so I never did say anything to him. Takei is a good solid member of the Democratic Party and he often pushes the party line, feeling, no doubt, that he's doing God's work.
Both parties suck and one of the themes of DWT for the past decade has been that the Democrats are simply the lesser of two evils-- sometimes not even that. The 2018 elections were not a "blue wave." Few people were excited about what the Democrats were offering. 2018 was simply an anti-Trump wave or an anti-red wave.
