EPA Approves Dangerous Monsanto-Made Weedkiller

On November 9, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved dicamba, a dangerously toxic herbicide designed by Monsanto for its next generation biotech soy and cotton varieties. [1]

The approval means that farmers will be able to use the new Xtendimax with Vapor Grip Technology formulation of dicamba to help control weeds in their crops that have become resistant to glyphosate and PPO (protoporphyrinogen oxidase inhibitors). [2]

More California Residents Vote to Ban GMOs

It appears that voters in Sonoma County, California, have banned genetically modified organisms (GMOs) by a margin of 56-44%, unofficial results show. In 2005, Sonoma County voters shot down a similar measure by 5%. The ban reflects changing attitudes about the biotech industry, and its impact on the environment and human health. [1]

Mom Treats Daughter with Marijuana, Loses Custody of Her 2 Kids

A Gooding, Idaho, mom lost custody of her children and is facing charges after treating her daughter’s seizures with marijuana butter. [1]
Three-year-old Madyson began suffering seizures and hallucinations in early October after coming off of the prescription anti-psychotic drug Risperdal, which was being used to treat a history of seizures.
Madyson’s mom, Kelsey Osborne, explained:

“They [the seizures] would stop and come back, stop and come back with the hallucinations and everything else.” [2]

DEA’s Ban of Kratom is Sending Many into Fury

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has recently stated that the herbal supplement kratom will be taken off of the market. It’s being taken off because the organization now classifies 2 of its major ingredients as Schedule I substances, so now the supplement is bunched with harder drugs like ecstasy, heroin, and LSD. And although this move is welcome by some, many are furious over the decision, claiming that kratom has actually saved their lives. [1]
