Early Release

Jason Billingsley, who was convicted of a sex crime in 2013, was released from prison after serving only nine years of a 30-year sentence. He has been arrested in the rape and murder Pava LaPere, a petite 26-year old woman and tech CEO.

Lawrence Paul Anderson was released early from prison in a so-called Criminal Justice Reform program. He is accused of killing his 67-year old uncle, stabbing his aunt in the eye and killing their 4-year old granddaughter. He is also accused of killing neighbor Andrea Blankenship and cutting out her heart.

59 homicide/aggravated assault convicts and 239 rapists and sex offenders have been released so far this year. The First Step law turns over the power to release prisoners to administrators at the Bureau of Prisons that can release whoever they want to.
