31 Bishops from Chile Offer Resignation to Pope Francis over Sex-Abuse Scandal

Rome: All 31 active bishops from Chile signed a document offering to resign after Pope Francis shamed them for ignoring or covering up sex abuse in the local churches. The Pope blamed the sex abuse on the fact that it was the practice of many bishops to send homosexual priests to teach at seminaries. And when well-meaning people, who seek to expose what they perceive to be human trafficking, are accused of racism by those who do not understand a situation or want to sow confusion, this is a grave injustice.

On January 8, Fiona Bruce introduced an item about Syria on BBC News at Ten with the phrase: 'Syrian government forces, backed by Russia'.
