by NoahMuch is being made in the corporate media about Comrade Trump's new addition to his line of merchandise swag, i.e. his "Read The Transcript" t-shirts so it was only natural and righteous that patriotic, sensible Americans would want to counter Trump with t-shirts emblazoned with "I Read The Transcript." See above. On Friday night, Chris Hayes did a fine segment on the issue. Trump's approach is that if he claims that there is nothing wrong with his Ukrainian phone call, typically robotic Republicans will accept his claim at face value, as fact, just like they always do. He's right of course. His critical thinking challenged followers will buy into anything he says whether it leads to their detriment or not. The new t-shirt is a marketing ploy talking point for his defense against impeachment, and, it's working as a manipulation of Republican public opinion. You can bet that virtually no republicans will bother to actually read the Ukrainian call transcript. A top leader of the party, Lindsey Graham, has made that perfectly clear. He says he won't read any impeachment related transcripts at all. For Republicans in general, it seems that, as with Trump himself, reading is not their thing. In fact, it's looked down upon. This is not the first time that republicans have proudly displayed their anti-American subversiveness. Remember those "I'd Rather Be A Russian Than A Democrat" shirts that began showing up at Trump rallies early on in the Trump presidency? See below. It's likely that anyone who has one is planning to buy a "Read The Transcript" shirt or already has. And, let's not forget those Russian flags they were waving at 2017 Trump rallies and the fact that Trumpies seem to just adore Confederate flags! Just this past weekend, their boy Trump finally found a sports crowd that would overwhelmingly cheer him and everything he stands for. No, it wasn't 1930s Nuremberg; it was in Alabama, arguably the birthplace and certainly a stronghold of modern American racism. One can only imagine what sentiments the next Trump shirts will express. Given what we see and hear from Republicans every day, here's a few guesses as to what's on the president's notepad:
• "Trump Is My Personal Jesus!"• "Russia, I'm Listening."• "Be Best. Be White." Trump/Pence 2020!"• "Nothin's Sadder Than An Empty Cage!"• "Segregation Now! Segregation Tomorrow! Segregation Forever! Trump/Pence 2020.• Final Solutions! Vote Republican!"
Or course, if these poor lost souls ever do realize they've been bigly-bigly had, a more realistic t-shirt would read: I Voted For Trump, And All I Got Was This Lousy T-shirt!"
