Dahr Jamail's new book takes us to the world's hot spots of climate change, confronting the damage caused by human activity up close. In The End of Ice: Bearing Witness and Finding Meaning in the Path of Climate Disruption, Jamail shares his personal experience as a mountain climber and outdoors enthusiast, beginning at Denali National Park in Alaska about 1996. His years at Denali provided anecdotal information of warming, based on the decline of glaciers and changes in weather patterns.
In 2004, he shifted to journalism, and covered the US invasion and occupation of Iraq as an unembedded reporter. He also wrote Beyond the Green Zone: Dispatches from an Unembedded Journalist in Occupied Iraq and two other Iraq-related books.

In this talk, Jamail expands on 3 chapters of his book, dealing with melting glaciers, sea level rise, and the Amazon basin. In Part 2, PBC interviews Jamail about major losses of underwater reefs, the potentially explosive potential of melting permafrost, and other topics.
