This week I am joined once again my good friend Lizzy to discuss her work in Palestine. Lizzy began by talking about her own personal journey which has led her to live and work full time in Ramallah. We discussed her work with Al Kamandjati, a non-profit which offers world-class music lessons for Palestinian children. We talked about the mission of Al Kamandjati and its founder Ramzi Aburedwan. Lizzy talked about Aburedwan’s life growing up in the Al Amari refugee camp and how this led him to create the organization.

This week my sister Emma joined me to discuss Brady Corbet’s latest film Vox Lux, which tells the story of a young girl Celeste surviving a school shooting and becoming a pop star. We started by discussing the film itself and it’s interesting narrative structure. We also touched on some of the flaws in the film. We then moved onto the main plot points and themes in the film. Emma and I discussed the role that pop music plays in our lives and how trauma and tragedy connects to it. We touched on 9/11 which plays a role throughout the film.

Aaron Franz of TheAgeofTransistions.com joins us for the first hour. We begin by talking about Aaron’s new live version of Trans Resister Radio and Uncle the podcast. Aaron and I then discuss the topic of the imagined dividing line between the real and the fantastic, the objective and the subjective. We talk about how reality and fantasy have begun to blur increasingly over the past several years. Using Elon Musk as an example we discuss how Musk’s increasingly bizarre pronouncements illustrate this concept.

This week I am joined by Yuval Laor of the Open Minds Foundation, and one of my co-hosts for Open Minds On Air. We discuss the neoconservative movement, the exploitation of trauma, and Israel. Yuval and I start off the conversation with the breaking news that Donald Trump has decided to pull the US out the Iran Nuclear Deal. We talk about what this means for America and the prospect of war with Iran. Yuval gives us his perspective of this as an Israeli-American, and how the public within Israel is reacting to the news.

On this edition of DTRH Popeye welcomes to the broadcast researcher, comedian, and author Jay Dyer. The two of them have a very in depth conversation about some of the topics, films, and people Jay discusses in his book titled ESOTERIC HOLLYWOOD. A more fitting description could not be found of the book than that of the author himself.

Very well known is post trauma stress disorder, PTSD; no doubt a very painful disorder experienced by many, most, maybe by all of us. Something went very wrong: a shock, violence, physical, verbal, by and to individuals, groups in society, societies, groups of societies. Not only by and to individuals: PTSD does not belong to psychology only.

Stanley Kubrick’s adaptation of Anthony Burgess’ dystopian novel A Clockwork Orange was definitely due for a full treatment – a full Ludovico Treatment!  I last watched the film some six or seven years ago and, while I knew there were obvious “MK Ultra” themes, there was much I missed.  The same happens with literature too, depending on the phase and time in your life.  Being much more grounded these years later, I am surprised at how much I missed (isn’t that always the case?).
