People Visiting the US Will Be Required to Turn Over Their Facebook Data to the Feds

(ZHE) — The State Department will unveil new rules on Friday requiring most visitors or immigrants to the United States to turn over their recent social media histories, in accordance with one of President Trump’s key national security enhancements contained in his “extreme vetting” executive order. In addition, travelers would be required to provide previous phone numbers, email addresses […]

Mike Pompeo Better for Big Oil Than Former Exxonmobil CEO Rex Tillerson

It’s said that you can tell a lot about people by the company they keep. And the shady characters President Trump has surrounded himself with represent a new low even by Washington standards.
One thread that ties many of these people together is their deep connection with the fossil fuel industry — and their willingness to implement the industry’s agenda, regardless of the impacts on people and planet.

US Announces Another $1 Billion in New Arms Sales to Saudi Arabia

(ANTIWAR.COM) — President Trump made clear earlier in the week during his meeting with the Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman that US arms sales to the Saudis are a top priority. Already, the State Department has announced another $1 billion in arms sales to the Saudis. The sales are going to include 6,600 TOW 2B missiles, at […]

Mike Pompeo and Gina Haspel Are Symptoms of a Much Deeper Problem

(RPI Op-ed) — President Trump’s recent cabinet shake-up looks to be a real boost to hard-line militarism and neo-conservatism. Before being chosen by Trump to head up the CIA, Secretary of State nominee Mike Pompeo was one of […]

Return of the Neocons: Mike Pompeo and the Death of Diplomacy

(ANTIWAR.COM) — Secretary Tillerson was far from an ideal choice, but his anointed successor at the State Department – Mike Pompeo – may ditch diplomacy all together and start a war! We both attended West Point. That’s where the commonalities end. I’ve been a soldier opposed to (endless) war; he’ll be a statesman opposed to peace. That […]

The State Department’s Future Under CIA Leadership

I wonder how Rex Tillerson feels about being the first high-level federal official to be fired publically and online, in one brutal tweet. I’m sure he expected the hammer to come down on him, but not like that. And I wonder if he will come forward to describe what led up to it. Unlikely, as he’s an extremely wealthy and still influential corporate player who would have little to gain from telling all. Still, some intrepid journalist should take Rex to lunch and encourage him to cry in his beer.

BREAKING: US slaps NEW sanctions on North Korea over use of nerve gas

US State Department Spokeswoman Heather Nauert stated on 6 March the imposition of new severe sanctions against the Pyongyang government of Kim Jong-un, for the use of nerve gas in the assassination of Kim Jong-nam, the leader’s half-brother, that took place last year. In a brutal attack, two women allegedly smeared the VX chemical agent on Jong-nam’s face in the Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia, on February 13, 2017.
