Now that the roll call votes are coming fast and furious, the freshmen are beginning to sort themselves out. The new Republicans in Congress are pretty much all cut from the same clothe-- a hopeless mess, barely worth mentioning or thinking about. But what we're seeing on the Democratic side of the aisle is that some freshmen are embracing Democratic values and principles and others are more comfortable slipping into the Republican wing of the Democratic Party.

The Republicans have gotten down to brass tacks in terms of dismembering and repealing pieces of Dodd Frank. Thursday they passed two bad bills, Ann Wagner's SEC Regulatory Accountability Act, which passed 243-184, and Michael Conaway's Commodity End-User Relief Act, which passed 239-182.

Every time Trump was questioned about Republican plans to gut Medicare and Social Security, he said he would not allow it, that he would “improve it.” That’s what Paul Ryan, Mike Pence and Tom Price say too— they want to make it “better.” Sounds better than saying they want to destroy it, huh?

The congressional district is just over 60% white, about 15% Latino, 13% Asian and 8% Black.

It's an affluent R+4 district in blue New Jersey.

Right on the heels of the election, Pollfish did a survey of Trump voters, some of whom were already suffering buyer's remorse. Almost a third of his voters said they didn't think he had a real chance to win and fully 11%-- that's about 6.8 million people-- said if they had it to do all over again, they wouldn't vote for him.
