Nixon

Midnight Meme Of The Day!

by NoahThe comparisons between Señor Trumpanzee and Richard Nixon have been coming in pretty steadily these days. For sure, both men are crooks and both will go down on the same list in history as more than a little crazy, more than a little corrupt, and more, much more than a little bigoted. We see that in Nixon's famous tapes just as we see that in Trumpanzee's tweets and at his lunatic rallies.

The folly and illegality of FISA courts

In the last several weeks, the term “FISA” has been widely used in discussion regarding the investigations into whether or not the campaign of Donald Trump was involved with Russian agencies in a collusion to win the White House. House Representative Devon Nunes compiled a summary document eliciting the abuses of the FISA warrant process, created through either knowing or unknowing biases against Candidate Trump, and the Democrat Party leadership just had their own “memo’s” declassification request refused, in an intentional effort to frame President Trump as “non-transparent.”

Porkins Policy Radio episode 113 Michael Swanson on Ken Burns Vietnam Propaganda

Michael Swanson, the author of The War State, joins me for an in-depth discussion of the Ken Burns and Lynn Novick Vietnam documentary series. I begin the conversation by discussing my own fascination with the Vietnam War. I talk about the influence my father has had on my understanding of the war, touching on his experiences with the army when he was drafted in 1969. Michael and I then dive into the film itself. We look at some of the serious flaws and aspects that the we felt were left out with the film including the CIA and drug trafficking.

Hard To Believe, But Watergate Teaches Us That There's No Reason To Give Up Hope For An Impeachment

Ultimately, impeachment is a political act. If there really is an anti-Trump/anti-Ryan tsunami in 2018, the Democrats will win back the House and probably impeach Trump-- even if it means forcing Pelosi and Hoyer, who oppose any such thing, to step down as leaders. Impeachment is like an indictment; there still has to be a trial in the Senate. And 66 votes to convict.

Trump Threatens Comey: “Better Hope There Are No Tapes”

FBI Director James Comey testifies on Capitol Hill in Washington, Dec. 9, 2015, before the Senate Judiciary Committee/ (AP/Susan Walsh)
In the most Nixonian-sounding comment yet during this week’s craziness, President Trump, clearly angry about the leaking sieves that are the White House and the US intelligence community, just issued a cryptic threat to former FBI Director Comey, warning in no uncertain terms about retaliation should the leaks continue and saying the fired FBI director should hope there are no recordings of their conversations.
