Is The Employee Free Choice Act Being Discussed In This Electoral Cycle? It Is In Brooklyn And Staten Island-- Meet Michael DeVito

NY-11 is all of Staten Island and the Trumpiest part of south Brooklyn. In fact, the district, the most Italian district in America, has a PVI of R+3. Although Obama beat Romney there in 2012-- 51.6% to 47.3%-- in 2016 it was Trump country. He beat Hillary 53.6% to 43.8%. The GOP establishment is happy to run incumbent Dan Donovan but former Congressman Michael "Mikey Suits" Grimm is our of prison and trying to get back into Congress again as a Trumpist.

A NYT Lesson in Horrendous Economic Journalism-- Guest Post By Jonathan Tasini

On Monday, journalist and author Jonathan Tasini wrote a "Dear colleagues" letter about bias in mainstream journalism, especially in the coverage of economics. It impressed me so much that I asked him if I could publish it here at DWT. He graciously agreed.Mainstream/traditional journalism is replete with examples of bias and utter cluelessness when it comes to economics.

Hillary Clinton And The Culture Of Corruption

New Yorkers elected Hillary to the U.S. Senate twice. Before they vote Tuesday they should ask themselves what she accomplished to make their lives better while they were providing her with that stepping stone to great wealth and career advancement. And unless said voter was a political insider or a Wall Street bankster, the answer would be nothing. She didn't do a damn thing for New Yorkers.

The New Dems Have A List Of The Next Batch Of Congressional Sell-Outs And Corporate Shills-- Their 2016 Endorsements

Yesterday at this time, we looked at some of the so-called "Democrats" in Congress who are willing to sell out Social Security and Medicare and other programs that make up the safety net. Despite Scott Walker And Paul Ryan, Democracy Is Still Alive And Kicking In Wisconsin

Great that Wisconsin state Rep. David Bowen, a DNC super-delegate, pledged his support to Bernie after Bernie's sweeping victory in his state last week. Bernie beat the establishment candidate 567,936 (56.6%) to 432,767 (43.1%) and won 71 of Wisconsin's 72 counties. Bowen, who is Vice-Chair of the Wisconsin Democratic Party mentioned on his Facebook page that Wisconsin "voters have decided by a 14 point margin that they desire the political revolution Bernie Sanders speaks about...

What If Ideas Were The Only Things "Too Big To Fail?" There Should Be No Super-delegates

I was... well, happy for Bernie when conservative Hawaii congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard came out and backed Bernie. After all, the 3 progressive federal officials-- Brian Schatz, Mazie Hirono and Mark Takai-- had all decided to do the safe, easy conservative thing and cast their lots with the establishment candidate. But Tulsi Gabbard... her ProgressivePunch career-long crucial vote score is an "F" and her endorsement lf Bernie won't change that. She votes very mcu on the Hillary side of the coin.

What Ever Happened To The Party of the People... Follow The Money

Many concerned Californians felt very let down when the establishment shills inside the California Democratic Party-- the Gavin Newsom wing basically-- backed away from holding reactionary New Dem Ami Bera accountable at the recent state convention by ending the short-lived withholding on the Democratic Party endorsement.

Is The Democratic Party Now Just Republican Lite At Its Highest Levels?

I hope you read the post yesterday featuring Thom Harmann's interview with Thomas Frank about how the Democratic Party quite consciously transformed itself from the party of the working class and middle class to the party of the Republican-lite rich professional class. If you didn't, please do... it's important to the foundational narrative we've been developing here are DWT over the last decade.
