Former employees of Blue Bell Ice Cream’s Brenham, Texas, plant are speaking out about the mismanagement and apathy that led to a deadly listeria outbreak and massive ice cream recall.
Several brands of soft cheeses have been recalled by a California company in the wake of a Listeria outbreak that has sickened at least 24 people in 9 states and killed one, the Centers for Disease Control reported.
Listeria has been contaminating various foods forever; we have yet to be able to prevent this foodborne disease-causing bacteria. Yet another recent headline about listeria outbreaks reads “CDC: 10 Listeria Illnesses Now Linked to Blue Bell Foods.”
The article goes on to say that:
Approximately 74,000 cases of product made by Amy’s Kitchen have been recalled due to a possible listeria contamination. Amy’s is a non-GMO food maker we support, but purchasing their products at the moment could possibly result in contracting a fatal food-borne illness.
