Hate crimes against Muslims have been on the rise. The murder of two samaritans for aiding two young women who were facing a barrage of anti-Muslim slurs on a Portland train is among the latest examples of brazen acts of anti-Islamic hatred.

Hate crimes spiked in four major American cities in the first months of 2017, with the percentage year-over-year change in one of them, Chicago, reaching a staggering 160 percent, according to the nonpartisan Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism.

A federal grand jury charged a South Texas man with a hate crime Thursday for allegedly setting fire to a mosque in January, adding to charges tied to his reported attempt to blow up a car.
The grand jury indicted Marq Vincent Perez, 25, for a Jan. 28 burglary and arson at the Victoria Islamic Center, federal prosecutors said Thursday.

WASHINGTON, D.C.– In the Iraqi city of Mosul, local residents have retrieved almost 300 bodies from underneath buildings that were leveled by a U.S. airstrike that took place on March 17.
