DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — The Saudi government continues to tolerate hate speech by some clerics against minority groups while public school textbooks in the kingdom still include language that discriminates against other forms of worship, a new study by Human Rights Watch said Tuesday.
The New York-based watchdog says that despite reform efforts and strong condemnation of attacks against Shiite citizens, Saudi officials have not acted to stamp out hate speech by state-affiliated clerics and government agencies.

HRW: Saudi Arabia’s Airstrikes In Yemen Amount To War Crimes

The Saudi-led coalition waging an air campaign against Yemen’s Houthi rebels in the north is killing children in what amounts to war crimes, an international rights group said Tuesday.Human Rights Watch released a detailed report documenting the deaths of 26 children killed in five airstrikes since June. The group said that despite coalition promises to abide by international law, the airstrikes have failed to do that and it urged the United Nations to place the coalition on its “list of shame,” a blacklist of countries that violate child rights.

Graphic eyewitness footage has emerged of Rohingya Muslims allegedly killed while fleeing state violence in Myanmar’s northern Rakhine state.
A series of videos show villages being burned as well as bodies of dead children and old women, allegedly killed by Myanmar armed forces.
“Everything has been burned to ashes by now,” one eyewitness told Human Rights Watch (HRW), adding that security forces had shot civilians as they ran away.

Israel Accused Of ‘War Crime’ For Forced Transfers Of Palestinians

Israel may be committing a war crime by revoking residency permits for Palestinians in East Jerusalem, Human Rights Watch said on Tuesday.
In a new report, the rights group said “deportation or forced transfers of any part of the population of an occupied territory could amount to war crimes under the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court”.
