In comments today on ABC’s “This Week,” National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster downplayed the chances of the US sending more ground troops to Syria, saying that it still “remains to be seen” if more troops are needed, but that he doubts the US will have to send any more.

The US National Security Adviser General H.R. McMaster has said that ‘all options are on the table’, in the aftermath of what is widely thought to be failed test launch of a conventional missile by North Korea, early this morning.
The US is widely thought to be mulling an attack on North Korea’s nuclear facilities, something which China strongly opposes, preferring instead to opt for negotiations.

WASHINGTON (REPORT) — President Donald Trump’s choice of an outspoken but non-political Army general as national security adviser is a nod to pragmatism, but Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster will serve a commander in chief with unorthodox ideas about foreign policy and an inner circle of advisers determined to implement them.

General H.R. McMaster named as President Trump’s National Security Adviser

President Trump has continued his practice of picking senior military officers to the senior posts in his administration by naming General H.R. McMaster to the post of National Security Adviser following the recent forced resignation of General Michael Flynn.
This came after the President’s original choice – Admiral Bob Hayward – turned down the offer.
