18 term Democratic Jim Visclosky is retiring from his northwest Indiana congressional seat-- a deep blue (D+8) seat where whomever wins the primary is the next member of Congress. Districts like this shouldn't be sending GOP-lite candidates to Congress; they should be sending bold progressives.

A man living in a smoke shop fired shots after three juveniles wearing masks broke into the store to rob it, and he wounded one of them. The man who fired the shots is in prison now without bail and faces up to 20 years for protecting himself.

The NRA is suing California officials for closing gun stores during the coronavirus outbreak, accusing them of "promoting a gun-control agenda that suffocates your self-defense rights when you need them most."

The Gun Violence Prevention and Community Safety Act of 2020, proposes all imaginable gun-control regulations, including national gun license, "Red Flag" gun confiscation, a 30% gun tax, an a 50% ammo tax, more no-gun zones, and much more.

The city council of Bellingham, Washington will vote on "emergency" measures of banning alcohol sales, banning gun sales and carry restrictions and closing public streets. Council members will meet from remote locations, allowing them to avoid facing unhappy citizens.

On Saturday, I gave a talk at the Pennsylvania Libertarian Party state convention.  There were so many great folks there and it was a pleasure to speak to a savvy, friendly audience.  Richard Schwarz did a pitch-perfect introduction that set the tone for the talk.  It’s hard not to like a guy who is always wearing a Phillies baseball cap.

Santa Clara County is forming what they call a “county gun team” – a unit of lawyers, analysts, and prosecutors authorized to seek out and confiscate firearms from those the state feels shouldn’t have them.

Last Thursday night-- in a post called Scrub From Your Mind: Any Blue Will Do"-- we looked at how the much ballyhooed new Democratic majority in the Virginia legislature failed to repeal the state's venal, anti-union right to work law.

Update: Four moderate Democrats joined Republicans in Monday's committee vote, rejecting the legislation. Senators voted to shelve the bill for the year and ask the state crime commission to study the issue.
