A dozen uniformed minority NYPD officers crossed The Thin Blue Line, filing suit over America’s largest police department’s allegedly illegal quotas as you can see in the video below.
The state of New York passed a law in 2010 banning police quotas.
Four NYPD officers have been removed from their post, after arresting a mailman who was delivering a parcel after the postal worker Glenn Grays, criticized their bad driving.
Now the whole world knows.
And NYPD has yet name the four officers.
The source of the cancer. The tensions stem from a multiplicity of sources, some of which is certainly the police, the prison industrial complex, policing for profit, mass incarceration, the militarization of cops and the like. Yes, Freddie Gray may have precipitated the initial involvement and interaction, but there’s more at stake. The media have been horrid in their approach. CNN shows particular tone deafness when it comes to causation factors.
Despite being disproven as a strategy for reducing crime, the broken windows policing theory is still utilized in New York and throughout in the United States to crack down on disorder and nonviolent crime. To think that harsh enforcement of this type of “crime” would prevent serious crime like homicide and assault is patently absurd on its face.
