Terry McAuliffe is a long time crooked operator from the corporatist wing of the Democratic Party. Don't ask how I put myself in this awkward position, but Dick Gephardt once tricked me into shaking hands with him. But, of course, of course, of course, he's the lesser evil than whatever horrid diarrhea Satan crapped out in the form of a Republican opponent-- much lesser evil.

When I moved back to America after living a vagabond/hippie life style for close to seven years in Asia and Europe, I didn't have a career path. I tried a few things based on my experiences in Europe, teaching photography, working in health food restaurants, writing... Eventually I wound up in San Francisco and got a job working in a public relations firm.

The above is an e-mail I got yesterday from Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown. I agree with every word of it. Shred is usually right about domestic policy. He's been a dependable leader on fair trade for as long as I can remember him in Congress. And he's one of the best in Congress on reining in Wall Street's predatory excesses.

Many people are celebrating that Wasserman Schultz was finally given the heave-ho as DNC chair a few minutes ago, but that doesn't mean the job is done. She was causing great harm to Democratic Party values long before she was elevated to that post and unless she's thrown out of Congress by Broward and Miami-Dade Democratic voters on August 30, she will continue doing exactly that into the foreseeable future.

The TV spot targeting African-American voters in Tallahassee and Jacksonville that Obama cut for Patrick Murphy's drowning Senate primary campaign puts the president's credibility dangerously on the line. Murphy's record in the House is unquestionably one of the most reactionary and blatantly anti-progressive of any Democrat serving in the House.

Florida is a swing state. Sometimes Democrats win and sometimes Republicans win-- but it's always close. Here are the Florida results in the last half dozen presidential elections for some context to the point I'm trying to make:

At the behest of Wall Street, Schumer and the Democratic Party establishment have poured everything it's got into bolstering Patrick Murphy's pathetic Senate campaign-- even to the point of attempting the smear and destroy progressive icon Alan Grayson and his career. Schumer went so far as to threaten Bernie Sanders' hoped-for committee chairmanship if he did anything to help Grayson win the primary.

I remember April 16, 2007 because it was my sister Michelle's birthday. 32 families remember it for another, more gruesome reason: 32 people were shot to death-- and 17 were injured-- when a Virginia Tech student opened fire on the Blacksburg campus over the course of two hours.

You may have noticed that the NRSC is spending a lot of time making fun of Patrick Murphy, who they've successfully-- and accurately-- branded Privileged Patrick.
