by NoahRemember the so-called Never Trumpers? They were a small handful of Republicans who feigned dissatisfaction and embarrassment about Trump back in 2016. Of course that looked like utter bullshit then and is now proven to be so. The Republican Party makes no bones about it. They are the Always Trump Party. Throwing it in our faces, they boldly and arrogantly showed it on national television at the Cohen hearings. For republicans, it's Trump Then, Trump Now, and Trump Forever. Protect Trump at all, and we mean, all costs! The Always and Forevermore Trump Party. Why? Because Trump reflects the essence of who and what all Republicans are. There can be no other explanation for their actions, their votes, and their words. Republicans have made their subversive choice and the actions of their representatives have chiseled it in stone. For them, it's Trump before Country.Trump is the answer to Republican dreams of pushing a 19th century agenda of racism, misogyny, anti-labor rights, anti-human rights... you name it. Trump is the conservative movement personified. Clearly, Republicans will defend their dictator-loving leader to the last man and woman because of that. Anyone who says otherwise is merely a sicko propagandist. Republicans show us that every damn day. They get away with it because any would-be opposition has not stood in their way. Such an "opposition" only gives us words while it bends to the will of the repugs, even a milquetoast like Mitch McConnell (Hello, Merrick Garland), because the words are cheap and the words don't come packaged with meaningful consequences. They do it because it's the least they can do and we accept that least. They'd rather encourage and reinforce what Republicans have become because they either like what Republicans have become or they believe in quaint, outmoded notions of civility; probably both, but biblical hellfire and brimstone are exactly what is called for instead. Go ahead Democrats. Go ahead so-called liberal media. Make my day. Make my year. Make my life. Prove me wrong.
