(ANTIMEDIA) — Filming on the popular Netflix series House of Cards has been indefinitely suspended. Cast and crew were informed of the suspension Tuesday morning.
“MRC and Netflix have decided to suspend production on House of Cards season six, until further notice, to give us time to review the current situation and to address any concerns of our cast and crew,” the two companies said in a joint statement to Deadline, a film industry outlet.
Netflix announced Monday that season six would be the final season of the popular political drama in light of sexual misconduct allegations made against one of the program’s lead actors, Kevin Spacey. The assertion against Spacey claims he made inappropriate sexual advances towards actor Anthony Rapp 31 years ago when Rapp was 14.
It is currently unclear how the suspension will affect the release of the show’s final season, which has already begun production. However, Netflix is currently exploring options for a House of Cards spin-off program.
