Attorney General Loretta Lynch
Attorney General Loretta Lynch admitted back in early March that legal action might be taken by the Department of Justice against “climate change deniers.” She pronounced while testifying in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee: “This matter has been discussed. We have received information about it and have referred it to the FBI to consider whether or not it meets the criteria for which we could take action on.”
The foundation for this new found crusade was curious. “The similarities between the mischief of the tobacco industry pretending that the science of tobacco’s dangers was unsettled and the fossil fuel industry pretending that the science of carbon emissions’ dangers is unsettled has been remarked on widely, particularly by those who study the climate denial apparatus that the fossil fuel industry has erected” she stated.
Strangely, the “climate change agenda” is corporate funded. General Electric’s GEPAC wrote in a 2011 letter to supporters that “On climate change, we were able to work closely with key authors of the Waxman-Markey climate and energy bill, recently passed by the House of Representatives. If this bill is enacted into law it would benefit many GE businesses.”
The Capitol Hill Research Center states:
GE is a leading member of the U.S. Climate Action Partnership (USCAP). This lobbying coalition includes the Environmental Defense Fund, Natural Resource Defense Council and the Pew Center on Global Climate Change. It also includes Ford, Chrysler, Dupont, Shell, and Duke Energy. USCAP laid out its blueprint on Jan. 15, 2009, just five days before Obama assumed office, calling for requiring an 80 percent reduction in emission levels by 2050 and – surprise – allowing greater use of carbon offsets.
Obviously, there is far more to the story than we’re being told. The entire environmental agenda has been financed by corporate America from the start. So its fairly clear that the hapless Lynch is not talking about the “fossil fuel industry” coming under attack. At a minimum, this is yet another corporate-funded assault on dissent.
