Friday night I went down to CBS to watch Alan Grayson on Bill Maher's HBO Show, Real Time. Maher asked Grayson about the law suit he's promised to bring if Cruz wins the Republicasn nomination and Grayson, one of Congress' most astute legal minds, explained it in detail. Unfortunately a crazy right-wing, foul-mouthed, helmet-head backer of Cruz, Liz-something-or-other, kept interrupting and refused to pay attention to the facts of the matter beyond her own limited and insular experiences. Grayson's point is that when Cruz's mother was voting in Canadian elections, there was no dual citizenship for Americans and Canadians so Cruz's claim to be a "natural born" American is patently false.I guess Herr Trumpf was watching because hours after the show he was in Sioux Center, threatening to take Cruz to court based on Grayson's arguments! "I’ve said Ted has a lot of problems-- number one, Canada. He could run for the Prime Minister of Canada and I wouldn’t even complain because he was born in Canada... The Democrats are going to sue if he ever got the nomination within two days. There have already been two lawsuits filed, but they don’t have standing. I have standing to sue. Can you imagine if I did it? Should I do it just for fun?"He says he'll beat Cruz without a legal fight and save the court costs and legal fees. Trumpf is in an upbeat mood-- bragged he could shoot someone in the middle of 5th Avenue and still not lose any of his supporters-- probably because he had a not-that-subtle endorsement from senile Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley, the top dog in the state's GOP establishment and an avowed Cruz-hater.Meanwhile, the Grayson campaign Act Blue page lit up, not just because people like seeing him in Maher's show and not just because of how he explained Cruz's lack of qualification to run for president but because when Maher asked him: "Trump or Cruz?" Grayson responded-- to loud applause-- "Trump or Cruz? How about a revolution?" Sounds Bernie-esque? More Bernie-esque than Hate Talk Radio host Glenn Beck's remarks yesterday when he endorsed Cruz in Iowa, yowling that "[I]f Donald Trump wins, it’s going to be a snowball to hell... Honesty, faith and truth are basic requirements. And quite honestly, I have to tell you, this probably isn’t going to go over very well, that’s why I like Bernie Sanders. Bernie Sanders is like, 'Yep, I’m a socialist.' I can actually sit at a table with a man who says, 'Yes, I’m a socialist, and yes, I don’t like what we are doing, we should be more like Denmark.'" And, before we say goodnight, here are me and Alan, backstage at CBS Friday Friday evening:
