by NoahI suppose I could go low and say that all it took to get Mike Pence and Lindsey Graham on a plane to the McAllen, Texas migrant concentration camp was the promise of men in cages, hot, sweaty men in cages, but far be it from me to say that. That would just be so... snarky! In truth, it was probably all about a photo-op intent on illustrating the current status of "compassionate conservatism."Whatever the reason, Pence led an entourage of republican $enators to McAllen last Friday. The picture in tonight's meme shows a mere corner of a cage and a blank-eyed, soulless VP Pence adopting a classic arms crossed pose of petulant indifference ala his boss as he quickly (very quickly) checked out a crowd of nearly 400 Latin American men in a hugely overcrowded cage. They were packed so tightly they could only stand, at least until they dropped. Reports are that Pence and his chapter of the Washington KKK spent all of 90 seconds in the room, didn't speak to any of the men, or, even look at them. Guilty much? Nah. That's Doubtful. Psychopaths don't suffer guilt. Besides, the incarcerated men hadn't had showers in 40 days give or take, and, had no access to even a toothbrush, so there's the matter of the smell.Pence left the room and ran to the nearest microphone to state that the migrants are receiving "excellent care," are "well cared for," and receiving "compassionate care in a manner the American people would expect." Well, hey, I'm an "American people" and this is not what I expect, or at least have a right to expect. But, yeah, Trump is a dictatorial white supremacist madman so I expect what we've been seeing.Aside from the psychopathology of all of this, what Pence's visit really was about was an opportunity to proudly display the nasty racist Trumpian treatment of "others" that drives republicans to the polls in happy numbers. Those are the Americans who expect and demand brown people in cages. Pence's trip proves that they are getting what they voted for, human misery for those they consider less than human.
