(nsnbc) : Tuesday evening, Israeli soldiers ordered twenty-one families in the Wad Ebzeeq area in the Northern Plains of the occupied West Bank to leave due to a “live fire military drill”. Similar exercises and “intermediate displacements” have increased in 2012 and 2013. We asked a Palestinian intelligence expert and received the stunning answer. “Israel is training for the ethnic cleansing of the Jordan Valley and much of the West Bank and their annexation, village by village”, along with the permanent annexation of the Syrian Golan Heights and parts of Southern Lebanon.
The twenty-one families were handed the military orders on Tuesday evening and told to stay away from their village on Wednesday as the soldiers could use live ammunition and shells, reports IMEMC. The news agency quotes Imad Hroub, a representative of the Wad Ebzeeq village council, as stating that dozens of soldiers invaded the area and handed the orders to the residents. IMEMC points out that Israeli soldiers frequently displace Palestinians, especially Bedouin tribes, from their dwellings in the Jordan valley as the army uses those areas for military training and live fire exercises.
Early Wednesday morning, we spoke with a Palestinian intelligence expert whom nsnbc has consulted since 2011. Asked how he assesses the intermediate displacement of the twenty-one families in in the Wad Ebzeeq area in the Northern Plains and similar exercises, he said:
“First of all, notice that these intermediate displacements and drills have become more frequent since the Arab Spring. This increase is consistent with our knowledge about Israeli plans to permanently annex more than 90 per cent of the Palestinian West Bank, to annex the Syrian Golan and parts of Southern Lebanon. What will remain in the West Bank are small, walled Palestinian enclaves which will become largely dependent on Jordan. The only Palestinian State Israel plans to recognize is in the Gaza Strip. These drills prepare for the displacement, the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians, village by village. The only thing that has not yet been determined is when the final push will come and which villages will be first, second, third and so on. These drills help Israel’s planners to gather the necessary information about that”.

Sunday, 29 December, Israel’s Ministerial Committee on Legislation approved a bill to annex the Jordan Valley of Palestine’s occupied West Bank. The sponsor of the bill, Miri Regev, is a former Brigadier General of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and a former military spokeswoman. The y-net news agency quotes Interior Minister Gideon Sa’ar as saying:
“There is no divide between settlement and security. The Jordan Valley is consensus for the citizens of Israel. Never mind – let them know the Jordan Valley will be Israeli under any final agreement”.
The bill has been appealed by Israeli Justice Minister Tzipni Livni, Finance Minister Yair Lapid, and Science and Technology Minister Yaakov Peri, reports y-net. This “appeal”, however, came only after the US Administration of President Barak Obama was signalling that Israel was discrediting the so-called peace talks between Israel and the largely EU and US financed Palestinian Authority. The Palestinian Authority was coming under increased pressure from within the Executive Committee of the PLO, resistance from the side of factions and a growing popular resistance.
The assessment is also consistent with developments around the Israeli occupied Syrian Golan Heights. February 2014, Israel’s Foreign Minister, Avigdor Lieberman, publicly called for “settling the Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights within the framework of the Israeli – Palestinian negotiations” adding that “part of this comprehensive bargain has to cover an understanding between Israel, the international community and the USA” and adding that “the Golan is part and parcel with Israel”.

The assessment is further consistent with Israel’s support of Al-Qaeda brigades, basedin the Israeli occupied, Syrian Golan Heights, who are being pitted against the Syrian Arab Army. On 19 February, the Israeli Jerusalem Post reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has visited a field hospital which the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have established for fighters, who have been injured in combat with Syrian military forces.
Palestinian and Syrian sources in the region have repeatedly reported that Israel is providing direct military aid to fighters under the banners of Jabhat al-Nusrah, Liwa-al-Islam, and other Al-Qaeda brigades.
This support includes medical services in the field hospital, which Netanyahu visited, a joint operations room, logistic and intelligence support as well as direct combat support for mercenaries who are infiltrating from the Israeli occupied Golan. This direct combat support includes Israeli special forces as well as artillery support.
Intermediate displacements of Palestinian villages, live fire exercises, the surrounding of entire villages, the blocking of traffic to and from villages in which IDF troops storm and search family homes, frightening children and intimidating adults, is happening at an increasing rate, with an “international community”, the USA and the Palestinian Authority of PA President Mahmoud Abbas discussing the possible deployment of NATO troops to the Jordan Valley.
