Yes today is indeed Canada Day.... On this day some 149 years ago, the British empire colonies of Upper and Lower Canada, along with the colonies in the maritime region conglomerated together to officially form the "Dominion of Canada".....Many Canadians celebrate this as the day that Canada became a "nation", but in reality it was not until Canada officially got its own Constitution back in 1982 that the independent Canadian nation was officially born and made separate from the United Kingdom's control.....Being a Canadian give myself and many others an interesting perspective on the world and the politics around the planet... Canada has always been pictured as a most "peaceful" nation and the Canadian people are always pictured as being most polite and good natured..... I find this to be true in my daily interactions with my fellow Canadians.....Yes, Canada does have a lot to be proud of... We have lived as neighbours to the United States of America, and fought in several wars including the 'War of 1812' to keep this nation independent and separate from the US, even though there is so much influence that the United States most definitely has on everyone living north of the 49th parallel! So again, Happy Canada Day to my fellow 37 Million + "Canucks"...... It is my hope that Canada is able to remain free and prosperous for years to come...More to comeNTS
